Indigo Touch 2.0 and Indigo 6.1 betas March 13, 2015

We're happy to announce that Indigo Touch 2 is now in the hands of our final beta test group. As we mentioned in a prior blog post, this test group is relatively small in order to reduce our coordination efforts. We believe this will be a short beta before we release.

At the same time, we're testing a new Indigo release (v6.1). Indigo 6.1 will not be required for Indigo Touch 2 - it will work with Indigo 5 as well. However, some functionality, such as event log viewing, will only be available when connected to an Indigo 6.1 server. Our beta test group is testing Indigo 6.1 alongside Indigo Touch 2 so when we release it will be very solid and well tested.

One significant change is that Indigo 6.1 will require Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). We made this move because it was becoming critical for our 3rd party developers to get access to Python 2.6 (which 10.5 doesn't include). This will allow them to add even more functionality and create new types of plugins. We believe that now is the right time to make this transition as the last Macs available that can't run 10.6 were last sold 8 years ago. This also means the end of Mac PPC hardware support.

We are really excited about Indigo Touch 2 and we can't wait to get it into the hands of our dedicated users. We'll continue to periodically post sneak peek screenshots on our social media accounts (which we've updated with nice new cover photos): Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Be sure to like/follow us on these services for the latest news and views. You may even catch a glimpse of some features we haven't yet discussed publicly!
